From the darkness a new light shines…
One does not get to perform on live television in front of 500,000 viewers, or play direct support for the mighty Avenged Sevenfold unless they are bringing something special to the table. So if you have not heard of Xerosun yet, then perhaps it’s time to take a page out of the A7X playbook and check these guys out.
Xerosun is a Dublin, Ireland based quartet. Formed in 2003, the band consists of vocalist and bassist Ivan O’Sullivan, (a.k.a. Ives Xerosun), Gareth “Gar” Jeffs (lead guitars/programming on the “Absence of Light” album), Fiachra “Fi” Kelly (guitars/programming), and drummer Darrin Bell rocking the skins. Their sound encompasses various elements of modern metal with industrial overtones.
The band recently released its newest video for the track “Transparent Fantasy”:
Together, the four gents of Xerosun have recorded 10 headbanging, horn-throwing treasures which they committed to their debut album, Absence of Light, This sonic beast was released in December 2011 on Rising Records, the same label wise enough to snap up Australia’s 4ARM . The album has already picked up rave reviews from the likes of Kerrang and Metal Hammer in Europe.
Now having conquered Ireland and England, the band has its sights set on making its mark on North American soil, as well as complete world domination. Frontman O’Sullivan would be the first to tell you, if you shoot for the universe, you can settle for the world.
O’Sullivan shared that he is, “a fan of all types and genres of music, ” but metal is his first true love. “Iron Maiden’s (1983) album Piece of Mind, was the first album that I owned at the age of five,” He’s been head banging ever since. “My band mates and I love way too many bands and styles of music for you to list, but all of them combined, along with our own stylings, make Xerosun who we are today.”
The band recently announced that they have signed with Rage on Stage management. “Frank James, (the owner of Rage on Stage management) really has his stuff together,” offered O’Sullivan. “He is opening up our music to the United States in a way that we could not do on our own.”
