All female metal quartet, Crucified Barbara is finishing out the second half of its first ever U.S. tour this month. The band is touring in support of its third studio album, “The Midnight Chase” released last year on Nuclear Blast records.
Crucified Barbara was formed in 1998 by bassist Ida Evileye and guitarist Klara Force, beginning its earliest incarnation as a punk outfit. The band would ultimately turn to hard rock and metal. Drummer Nicki Wicked and vocalist/lead guitarist Mia Coldheart would soon join the party and in 2005 the group released its debut album, “In Distortion We Trust“. The sophomore effort, “‘Til Death Do Us Party” would be released in 2009.
By the time Crucified Barbara released “The Midnight Chase” in 2012, the ladies had refined their sound and set their signature, wielding hard rocking riffs, catchy melodies, and high energy vocals. The band’s earliest punk roots still poke through, and that reckless rebel attitude really comes to life when the band plays live.
On Thursday night, April 4, the band hit Double Door in Chicago for a special performance which also found Crucified Barbara streamed live worldwide on the internet. A first for the band, and they did not disappoint.
The quartet hit the stage, opening their set with the first three tracks off “The Midnight Chase“; “The Crucifier”, “Shut Your Mouth” and “Rock Me Like The Devil”. They dipped back to their first record for their first single, “Losing the Game”. From their second album they offered up “Sex Action” and fan favorite, “Jennyfer”.
The set was, not surprisingly, heavy on the latest release from which they also performed:, “Shout it Out Loud” and “Everything We Need”.
In all Crucified Barbara played a tight and electrifying set that kept the fans on their collective feet from beginning to end.
