Stars in Stereo Q&A
Los Angeles spent years as the hotspot for up-and-coming music artists, but the last decade or so has been slim pickings. Enter Stars in Stereo, a quartet of fresh young talent bringing hooky pop sensibility back to hard rock. On March 16, Metalholic sat down for a Stars in Stereo interview with singer Bec Hollcraft and lead guitarist Jordan McGraw.
The band, which also features Justin Siegel (bass), Frogs McCormick (rhythm guitar) and Drew Langan (drums), will release its debut self-titled album on April 9. Stars in Stereo just completed a significant tour with Flyleaf and Drowning Pool and are about to head out on the road with Bullet For My Valentine, Halestorm and Young Guns.
The band’s debut album is packed with huge harmonies, addictive hooks, and Hollcraft’s addictive vocal attack. Songs like “Broken” and “Every Last Thing” are infectious as anything you’ll hear on rock radio this year. The album is overflowing with fiery modern rock alive with cinematic flourishes. The Stars in Stereo message is all about self-empowerment: Be your own person, follow your own path, chase your own dream. Don’t give up and don’t give in on anything you believe in. They didn’t and they don’t want their fans too either.
As powerful as their message is, likewise the group’s sonic energy transfers over to the stage where the quintet simply explodes. They bring the crowd to life with their passion and commitment to the music. A band born from the ashes of what might have been into a force that will not be stopped.
