East Coast traditional metallers, A Sound of Thunder launched their newest Kickstarter campaign today in support of their long-awaited covers album, Who Do You Think We Are?. The quartet began the project back during the recording of their 2014 album, The Lesser Key of Solomon and continued working on it around the recording and release of last year’s Tales from the Deadside. The new campaign will also help fund a new animated video for the character of Udoroth who first appeared on the Lesser Key of Solomon album. The video for the track, “Udoroth” has already received over 314,000 hits. Fans have asked for more, and the band is geared up to answer the call. A video (including music clips) and information about the new Kickstarter campaign can be viewed here.
From the band’s Kickstarter page:
“This Kickstarter campaign will fund the completion of our upcoming covers album “WHO DO YOU THINK WE ARE?” We put every bit of effort into this full-blown studio album as we do into our original albums, and churned out some Thunderized versions of classics by Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Tool, Kansas, Black Sabbath, Wrathchild USA, Dio, Dan Fogelberg, and Deep Purple! Production was once again handled by the platinum awarded Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios, so you can expect the same punchy modern production as our previous albums but beefed up with even heavier guitars and some of the best performances we’ve ever captured.”
In just 4 hours, A Sound of Thunder hit their initial goal for this campaign, thanks to the Legion of Thunder (don’t worry, there are plenty of stretch goals to hit, including one for ASoT beer!!!). For the better part of their career, A Sound of Thunder has made their fans, the Legion of Thunder, their record company. It is the fan support which has helped them release new music every year this decade, and after the covers album, their next studio effort is due in 2017.
A Sound of Thunder is:
