Washington DC’s independent metal titans, A Sound of Thunder launched their latest Kickstarter Campaign today and in a matter of hours were well past the halfway point towards their goal. The band’s new album, It Was Metal, will also include a graphic novel chronicling the album’s 10 tracks, along with a Kickstarter only bonus EP, and new animation for the return of Udoroth!
Here’s a quick teaser video:
Perhaps no metal band has had stronger fan support than A Sound of Thunder, and one listen to It Was Metal is a headbanging reminder of why their Legion of Thunder is so loyal. The new record will be the band’s sixth full-length studio effort, and once again platinum award winning producer Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, Raven, While Heaven Wept) will man the boards. The album will also feature guest appearances from Accept’s Mark Tornillo and keyboardist Tony Carey (Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow). As always, the amazing Dusan Markovic handles the album’s extraordinary artwork.
A Sound of Thunder was formed in 2009 by guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren, Vocalist Nina Osegueda provides the band’s powerful voice, and bassist Jesse Keen anchors the quartet’s low-end. It was Metal marks the follow-up to 2015’s masterful concept record, Tales From the Deadside, and 2016 covers album, Who Do You Think We Are?
