Dire Peril launch Indiegogo campaign
Dire Peril is the brainchild of guitarist and composer Jason Ashcraft who combined his passion for heavy music and science fiction in October, 2009. Over the last half decade, Ashcraft has recorded a trilogy of EPs; Astronomical Minds (2012), Queen of the Galaxy (2014), and Through Time and Space (2015). Ashcraft has recorded the projects with a combination of local musicians and specials guests. Some of those guests have included guitarists JK Northrup and Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), and vocalist Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers), David Garcia (Cage), and John Yelland (Judicator, Disforia).
Now Ashcraft has teamed up with Yelland to record Dire Peril‘s full-length debut, The Extraterrestrial Compendium. The new record will feature songs based on some of the duo’s favorite sci-fi films spanning the last half century, including the likes of The Day the Earth Stood Still, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Predator, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers.
To help complete the project, Dire Peril is running a crowdfunding campaign through Indiegogo. The campaign offers many different fun and unique perks. The band’s modest goal is halfway achieved as Christmas arrives, but they could use your support. Based on the band’s trilogy of EPs and the undisputed talent that Yelland brings to the project, this will be an album not to be missed for fans of power metal.
“We are extremely excited to begin recording of our debut album. This has been a long time coming and easily our best material to date. We are ready to deliver to you a strong debut and believe you will be very pleased with what we have in store.”
If you have yet to discover Dire Peril, you can listen to the entire first three EPs on the band’s Bandcamp page, and you can even purchase the entire compilation, The Astronomical Queen of Time and Space for a paltry $3.
