If you read Metalholic’s Top 50 list for 2010 then the name Red Line Chemistry may not be unfamiliar to you. They made the list at 19. Not bad for a debut album.
Last summer, I had the opportunity to speak with vocalist Brett Ditgen as the band went out in support of their debut Dying For A Living. At the time their first single “Dumb Luck” was devouring radio across the nation. The mid-west quintet are currently on the road with Saving Abel as their second single from the record, “You Don’t Get It”, is racing up the charts.
The band performed an powerfully sonic set including a stripped down version of their song “Fire Rising” and a testosterone injected throwdown of the Tom Petty classic, “Runnin’ Down A Dream.” From the opener, “Dumb Luck” to the aggressive and aptly titled closer “Ultragigantor” the band tore up the venue and left the headliners with big shoes to fill.
I sat down with Brett and guitarist Dave Fyten prior to the show and talked about the current tour and the success of the band’s record. At times we struggled to hear over Saving Abel’s sound check and the blast of Deftones blaring in the background, but hey, it’s only rock and roll. Along the way we touched on broke down tour RVs, the guy’s hobbies and a few firsts from their childhood. Check it out below, then go back and listen to our first interview. Then most important check out the music and score Dying For A Living. And by score, I mean buy it!
