Next month Denver-based thrashers Havok will return to action with their second album, Time Is Up, the follow up to their debut, Burn. Time Is Up is set for release March 29.
The band’s sound is built on an old school thrash foundation, with modern elements, and even some classic rock touches in the mix. While many band’s attempt to recreate the sound they grew up with, most end up heaving it up like a bad night of binge drinking. Havok however don’t care for posturing or conventional wisdom in their thrash. They bring it straight from the groin and hit you like a jackhammer upside the head.
The band’s founder, vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez has worked hard to find all the right pieces for this band, and he seems to have found them in fellow guitarist Reece Scruggs, bassist Jesse De Los Santos, and the war machine, drummer, Pete Webber. You can hear the results of the band’s efforts on Time Is Up. Since this is not a record review I’ll spare you waxing praise on the bruising nature of the record, but you’ll want to buy it. Remember the date, March 29th.
A special pre-order promotion launched this week for the record via Candlelight Records official webstore, and next week the band kicks off their first tour in support of the new record. The tour, alongside Malevolent Creation, will have Havok performing across the US. The band hopes to see you at one of the shows. Tour dates below.
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with main man Dave Sanchez about the origins of the band, the new record, his views on album cover art and much more. Take a listen below.
