Otherwise interview with Corky, Ryan and Vassilios
Las Vegas hard rock quintet, Otherwise continues its relentless touring schedule this fall on a current run with Three Days Grace. The band is still out in support of its highly regarded debut album, “True Love Never Dies“. On August 25, Metalholic sat down in the dark recesses of the Knitting Factory with guitarist Ryan Patrick, bassist Vassilios Metropoulos and drummer Corky Gainsford to talk about their nonstop tour, their upcoming acoustic EP, the band’s newest member, and when fans can look forward to their sophomore album.
Otherwise was founded in 2006 by brothers Ryan and Adrian Patrick (vocals). Gainsford has been the band’s long time rhythmic anchor with Metropoulos moving from guitar to bass last year to solidify the bottom end. This paved the way for new guitarist Andy Pugh who joined this year.
The band’s music has impassioned countless fans to tattoo Otherwise song lyrics on their flesh. The impact has not gone unnoticed by the band who make themselves as accessible as possible to their supporters. To show their thanks, the band will release a special acoustic EP this fall, Halloweenish, with new material and maybe a re-worked track from the debut major label release.
“True Love Never Dies” has already garnered the band two Top 20 smash hits, with “Soldiers” and “I Don’t Apologize (1000 Pictures)”. A third single, “Die For You” has already entered the top 40 and is quickly moving up the Active Rock charts. The band hopes to film a video for the latter when a break in their touring schedule allows. For now, a lyric video can be seen below.
