October Rage interview with Nick Roberts
Australia’s hardest touring hard rock outfit, October Rage just finished up another U.S. tour and are heading back home to work on their next full-length album. The recent excursion was in support of the band’s new EP, Fallout, Dust and Guns. which is the follow-up to the quartet’s acclaimed 2011 debut, Outrage.
October Rage was founded in New South Wales in 2008 by brothers Nick and William Roberts. The latter handles the bass work, while Nick is the band’s vocalist and guitarist. The upstart group won a contest in 2010 and was chosen from hundreds of bands to open three shows for Bon Jovi in Sydney on the Circle Tour.
“Bon Jovi was an experience and a half,” offered William, “from being a small unknown band to opening up for 50,000 screaming people a night for one of the greatest rock bands in history was definitely mind-blowing! We didn’t really have time to be nervous, it was just, okay we have a job to do lets rip it up!”
With the release of Outrage, October Rage came to the U.S. in 2012 piling up some 70,000 miles of road while performing 120+ shows across the country.
This year, the band introduced the world to its two newest members, guitarist/keyboardist John McMullen and drummer Kai Chambers. The new line-up released Fallout, Dust and Guns this fall, showcasing the band’s evolving sound.
As October Rage was winding down its American leg of the tour with Bobaflex and Royal Bliss, Metalholic caught up with frontman, Nick Roberts for an update on all the Rage. Nick discussed the band’s newest editions, talked about the US tour, offered an update on the next record, and gave us a track by track breakdown of the new EP, which features the hits “Valkyrie” and “White Walkers”: The latter, a nod to the Game of Thrones novels.
