When you’re spread across different continents an ocean apart, keeping any band moving forward, much less remaining relevant is an art form unto itself. Mutiny Within has managed to bridge that divide for a solid decade now. While the band has slimmed down to a quartet for the new album, Origins, the Mutiny Within sound remains fully intact and arguably stronger than ever. The band continues to be fronted by the unmistakable vocals of Chris Clancy, who also produces the album. Bassist Andrew Jacobs and drummer Bill Fore remain the band’s rhythmic anchor, with Fore once again serving as the man behind the album’s artwork as well. This time around, guitarist Daniel Bage handles the fretwork and keyboard duties alone. The result is an album that resonates with the band’s early impact that also manages to expand on the Mutiny Within signature.
Next week, on Wednesday February 8, Mutiny Within will stream the album in full prior to its February 10 release date. The livestream will take place on the band’s Facebook page at 11AM PST, 2PM EST, and 7PM UK time zones. The group has already teased fans with four tracks off the 10 track album, all of which can be heard below.
Andrew Jacobs, who founded the band, had this to say on the origins of Origins:
“At the end of 2015, we found some old demos we thought had been lost, which led to a discussion about putting together an EP.
“We planned on releasing the demos along with a couple of new songs but once we got started, we had more and more ideas for new songs and the plan quickly evolved into making an EP of brand new tracks.
“Our fans have stuck by us through so much, and as we kept working, we felt we were selling them short with just an EP, so we pushed on and turned it into a full album.
“We’ve now been in the studio for almost a year and have put together what we think are our best songs to date. It’s Mutiny Within but evolved, more extreme, longer songs, but still with everything that made people excited about us. My favorite part; it’s all real. The drums, the vocals, the shred, and most of all, the passion we’ve always had for our music… We tried to capture the energy as if we were on stage and we’ve done that.
“We’re so excited about the results and have no plans on stopping now.
“We owe our fans everything and we hope they continue to enjoy listening to us for a long time to come.”
Our 3rd single, “Silent Weapons (feat. Per Nilsson)” is finally here. Let’s GO! Big thanks to Scar Symmetry, and Per Nilsson for his solo on this track.
“What if we added some orchestra?”
“Why don’t we do something crazy in the middle?”
One of the many thoughts that went through Dan’s head when he first listened to the demo.
So here it is. Our 4th and final single. And one of our favorites.
