Kittie have come along way from those teenage years of “Spit” and angst. These days their songs are more personal, and certainly more diverse. Next week the band releases their sixth album, “I’ve Failed You” on eOne Music. It is the first to feature the same four members on more than one album, and the second to be produced by good friend Siggy Meier.
Perhaps that level of comfort is the reason Morgan Lander, Mercedes Lander, Tara McLeod and Ivy Vujic felt this record was a place to deal with their emotional discomfort.
Vocalist Morgan Lander has called this record the hardest she’s had to write for, and on the album’s 11 tracks she delves into the pain and emotional upheaval from the last few years of her life.
This week I had a chance to Skype with Morgan, and she opened up on writing and recording I’ve Failed You. She talked about the cathartic nature of the record, the diversity of the songs, and let’s us in on her personal favorite. We also spoke about their recent contribution to the Runaways tribute album, and the possibility of a recording live album.
