On June 8 Denmark’s modern metal masters, Mnemic will return with its fifth studio album, on Nuclear Blast Records. Mnemesis marks the band’s first album with its overhauled lineup. Vocalist Guillaume Bideau and founder and guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie were left to rebuild the band after its 2010 album Sons of the System. Joining the duo are drummer Brian Larson, bassist Simone Bertozzi, and guitarist Victor-Ray Salomonsen Ronander.
While Mnemesis still retains the classic Mnemic signature, there is definitively more melody on this record. The album was recorded at Antfarm studios in Aabyhøj, Denmark with longtime producer Tue Madsen (Suicide Silence, Moonspell, Aborted). The cover artwork was created by Metastazis (Morbid Angel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Ulver, Paradise Lost).
Bideau has also had a busy spring with his side project One-Way Mirror, which just released its sophomore album, Destructive by Nature in April.
This week Metalholic sat down with Bideau to discuss both of his new records, talk about the lineup changes in Mnemic, and the more melodic direction of the band’s new album.
