The Road Dog Returns!
Max Cavalera is a busy man, and that’s just the way he likes it. After a massive world tour with Soulfly in 2010 in support of their monster album, Omen, Max grabbed his brother Igor and headed right back to work. This year Max and Iggor, along with guitarist Marc Rizzo and bassist Johnny Chow, release the sophomore beat down from Cavalera Conspiracy.
The new album, Blunt Force Trauma, is a brutal masterpiece of thrash and groove, with plenty of whiplash inciting tracks and plenty of surprises as well. Among them is a vocal visit from Agnostic Front mainman, Roger Miret who helps the guys get their ‘hardcore’ on.
While Max enjoys his time home in the desert with family and friends, he’s quick to point out, he’s a road dog, and this weekend the band will play a huge show with Iron Maiden back home in Brazil. After the album releases next week the band will be taking to the road first here in the states then over to Europe for a string of metal festivals.
Metalholic had the chance to catch up with Mad Max at home in Phoenix, fresh from picking the kids up from school. He grabbed a drink and something to nosh on then sat down to fill us in on the new record, his underrated guitarist, his love of art, and much more. One barely needs to ask a question for Max always has plenty to say.
If you missed our interview with Max on the Omen tour you can catch it here.
