Winning the Global Battle of the Bands is no small feat, but that’s exactly what Dublin, Ireland natives, Kopek, did in 2005. The trio of Brad Kinsella (bass), Shane Cooney (drums) and Daniel Jordan (vox/guitar) has left a strong and positive impression wherever they’ve traveled–and this month they introduce themselves to American rockers.
Their debut album, White Collar Lies (a review of which can be read here) won’t hit shelves until March 1st, but fans can get a taste of what’s to come on the internet, and on their new tour with Hinder.
Neighborhood friends, Cooney and Kinsella put the band together and placed a local ad for a singer/guitarist. Their reward–Daniel Jordan. The three have been nearly inseparable since.
Honing their skills in clubs all over Europe, the band has crafted a very honest and modern sound that still bespeaks their classic rock influences. White Collar Lies is a captivating record, and Kopek will doubtless make a huge splash in rock and metal circles in 2011.
Metalholic caught up with Daniel Jordan in Nashville on the last day of rehearsal prior to the start of their tour which kicks off in Jackson, Mississippi on January 21st. His thick Irish cant was both warm and engaging. We talked about the new album and tour, and about his feelings on music and songwriting. Listen to the full interview below:
