Candlelight Red release their debut album, The Wreckage, this week, on Imagen Records. Their first single, “Closer” is already creating quite a radio buzz. The album was helmed by Grammy nominated producer David Ivory who has also produced Halestorm, Silvertide and many others.
So who are Candlelight Red? The four guys who make up the band, vocalist Ryan Hoke, guitarist Jeremy Edge, bassist Jamie Morral, and drummer Josh Hetrick, hail from the Williamsport area of Pennsylvania. The band formed three years ago from the ashes of other projects, immediately identifying a songwriting and performing chemistry with each other.
This is a band with little need to have others toot its own horn.Candlelight Red is a rocking bullhorn of its own. The band has already made believers out of Jagermeister who tapped them to open the local Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival with Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Halestorm. Even more impressive the band beat out over 10,000 other bands as part of a Guitar Center contest for a chance to open for KISS. After the field was narrowed all the way down to the final handful, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons personally tabbed Candlelight Red to open for them.
This summer the band has been busy on the road with Egypt Central, Saving Abel, and now 10 Years. As the guys moved up through Salt Lake City and into the Pacific Northwest, I caught up with guitarist Jeremy Edge on the band’s off day. He shared with Metalholic some background on the band, his influences, his thoughts on 9/11, and the release of their debut record, The Wreckage.
