Greece’s black metal despot, Wrath, aka Dodsferd, returns with his/its sixth effort, the decidedly mordant Spitting With Hatred the Insignificance of Life. If one were to tap into the aural cadence of a psychotic’s brainwaves, this is probably what they’d hear.
With Spitting With Hatred…, Dodsferd gives us the soundtrack to insanity and the depravity of human nature, wrapped up in 55+ minutes of mind decaying, soul eroding, corrosively seething anger and contempt.
There are only 6 tracks here, but that’s all one needs impale their brainpan on this slab of misanthropic black metal.
Each track takes you on a journey full of intriguing nuances and morose twists that get into the core of your being like sinew-gnawing rats. Yet there are still gloriously disturbing moments of melody and classic rock elements.
While so many black metal outfits are rehashing and retreading all that’s come before, Dodsferd is expanding upon its own dark kingdom with unexpected and darkly delicious components.
From the opening track, “The Hate Goes On”, to the closer “A Pile of Shit, The Only Hope of Your World”, this record is a mindfuck of despair and social ambivalence, set to a cacophony of doom.
For those that live to bask in the pitch bleakness of humanity’s Cimmarian crevices, this record is the ray of enlightenment you’ve been dying for.
