Butcher Babies interview
The naysayers may hail Hollywood’s Butcher Babies as this year’s latest sex fueled fad, but those who have seen the band perform live, or have heard their debut album, “Goliath”, out this week on Century Media records, know the truth. Last week, the band kicked off their first excursion for Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. If the frenzied crowds present for each of their performances so far is any indication it won’t be their last. After their Day 3, Boise, Idaho performance, guitarist Henry Flury and vocalist Heidi Shepherd sat down for 10 minutes of Mayhem with Metalholic.
There is no question that the beauty, and aggressive sexuality of Shepherd and co-vocalist, Carla Harvey brought the boys to the playground. But it was the music that kept them there and brought the girls too. It was the band’s powerful punk and thrash infused metal combined with their theatrical imagery and ballsy attitude that led Century Media to sign the quintet, which also features drummer Chrissy Warner and bassist Jason Klein.
In the end it is always the metal that counts, and Butcher Babies bring it to every performance, every stage, every time. Harvey and Shepherd attack the audience with an in your face aggression that rivals Phil Anselmo. Comparisons of Pantera meets Alice Cooper are not too far off. If solid metal anthems and high energy live performances that put the showmanship upfront appeal to you then the Butcher Babies are worth sinking your eyes and ears into.
You can watch our interview with Henry and Heidi below, then get out and pick up your copy of “Goliath“, and catch the band on Mayhem this summer.
