Even though Burn Halo front man James Hart has spent more time with short hair than long, I almost walked right by him when he rolled through Boise last month. The Sampson locks are gone, but the powerful voice and Jim Morrison stage presence are not. He and bandmates Joey Roxx (guitar), Brandon Lynn (guitar), Aaron Baylor (bass), and Dillon Ray (drums) play with fire and aggression. They are a solidified unit, and the growth in their sound is evident.
They have just wrapped their current tour with Egypt Central and Red Line Chemistry and are about to set off with Drowning Pool and Kyng. With a little Sausagefest in between.
The band’s sophomore album Up From The Ashes is a true band effort and not merely a James Hart project, so in many ways it feels like a debut album, and Hart concurs, telling Metalholic he wishes this were the band’s first record.
The vocalist took some time to chat about the new record, his passion for football, and his hatred of spiders before the band’s headlining set in Lancaster , Pennsylvania. He gives us his early pick for who goes to the Superbowl this year and talks about the rough side of making videos. You can check out the band’s latest, for “Tear It Down”, below.
